What Is a GPS Smart Label?
A smart label looks like an ordinary shipping label but contains a small battery, a radio and a unique identity. Applied to a carton, pallet or asset, it turns an invisible object into one that can report — or be detected — as it moves through the supply chain.
Two architectures, one category
The phrase “GPS smart label” covers two genuinely different architectures. A cellular-enabled smart label, like the LL100, determines or assists its own location using GNSS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and supported network methods, then transmits it over its own cellular connection. A Bluetooth smart sticker, like the GNTS1, emits a secure, encrypted Bluetooth signal — and a compatible device in the partner detection network associates that detection with its own location and relays it to the cloud.
Both end up as dots on the same GoAndTrack map. The difference is who does the positioning and the relaying — the label itself, or the surrounding partner ecosystem — and that difference drives cost, battery life, size and where each one makes sense.
What smart labels are not
- Not a replacement for carrier scan events — they complement them with independent data.
- Not all “GPS” — Bluetooth stickers have no satellite receiver at all, and honest vendors say so.
- Not magic — detection availability, coverage, battery life and accuracy all depend on configuration, environment and the presence of compatible participating devices.
How to choose
